Jumping Out of the Boat

Watch out Peter! I just jumped out of the boat. Now I just have to keep my eyes on Jesus so I don't sink.

I have a lot of respect for my manager at ALSAC/St. Jude, so yesterday I let him know that I planned to resign my position in July. (By then, I will be a certified personal trainer and able to be hired by a health club.) He asked me to go ahead and submit my letter of resignation, so my department will have as much time as possible to figure out who will be taking over my stuff and give them extra time to start recruiting my replacement. I prayed about it yesterday and talked to Justin, but still felt uneasy because I like to have everything planned out before I make a move, and as of today, I don't have a job guarantee.

I prayed again this morning and asked for God to give me wisdom and discernment. This morning I came to work and reviewed by Blogger dashboard. Julie Hadden, a former Biggest Loser contestant, Christian and someone I really admire, had a new post on her Guideposts blog. She was writing about change since her and her husband are relocating to a new city for the first time. A line in her blog flew off the page: "We need to have confidence in ourselves and believe in ourselves and our ability to do what we've committed to do, with God's help."

So July 9 will be my last day at St. Jude. At that point, I will be a certified personal trainer employed by a health club (claiming this now) and about to start classes to get certified as a wellness coach. Just trusting Jesus and knowing he will do BIG things.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted anything. But, no big deal, this is my blog and I can do whatever I want, right?

Things in the Conway house have been crazy busy. I'm fully pursuing a new career and Justin is contemplating a change. Since I've already embarked on my journey, I'll focus on mine and give him some more time to figure his opportunity out. :)

For the past two weeks, I've been diligently studying and taking quizzes for my Fitness Nutrition Specialist certification. This is the first step toward becoming a wellness coach! Wellness coaching is the career that I identified through the life coaching process I just completed. Basically, a wellness coach motivates and supports people as they work toward their health & fitness goals. In order to become a wellness coach, I need some sort of nutrition education (in progress), will become a certified personal trainer (June) and then begin the wellness coaching training program (begins in July). The wellness coaching training program runs through October, and then I'll be able to take an exam to become a certified coach.

As a wellness coach, I can either work for myself or for a health club. As a part of my research about the career, I found out that my gym is starting a pilot wellness coaching program this summer and I hope to be involved. I am told that as soon as I have a personal training certification, I can be employed at a club.

I am anticipating God to bring some great things my way this summer, but for this month and the next, I'll be super busy studying. Right now, I am knee-deep in the science part of nutrition-- cells, how the body digests food, how we make energy. It's all fascinating, but I'm definitely having to concentrate. I better run now-- Unit 4 awaits. :)
